April Gonzalez

SolarCorps Construction Design Fellow
April Gonzalez was born in Reedley, California, and grew up in the Central Valley. She attended Fresno City and Reedley College before entering a trade school for Forensic Criminology. Before serving with SolarCorps, she was working in the trucking industry. April started as a driver and eventually became a supervisor in shipping and dispatch.

April comes to GRID with many talents and certifications. She holds a degree in forensic criminology, has a Class A license, and has an IBT 200 solar certificate with CPR and OSHA certifications.

April first learned about GRID through PG&E and saw that we provide training for solar installation. Being resourceful, she went through workforce connection and received a grant to attend at no cost. Quickly after graduation, her SolarCorps journey began. She didn't know what to expect before her service term but came in with a positive mind and determined to get hired after her fellowship.

An interesting fact about April is that she enjoys learning about Native American Cultures. She attends an online course in Mexico City for Native American Archaeology, Cosmology, and Astrology. Currently, she's learning a Uto-Aztecan language called Nahuatl. She also enjoys photography, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
