Home Improvements Made Possible from Energy Bill Savings

It's often said that there's a new beginning when something ends. Jason Hitchman races dragsters and was on tour racing when he heard that his father's house had burned down. He traveled home to Hanford, California to visit his father and view the damage to the house. The visit home offered more than he anticipated, because during this time, Jason met Stephanie and they created a new beginning together. They are now married and have two daughters, Tabitha, who is in high school, and Willow is four years old.

Jason loves the country, but Stephanie is more of an urban gal. The first home that they bought together was in a housing development in the City of Hanford. Before the pandemic, Tabitha became interested in raising show pigs as a hobby. They knew they would have to say goodbye to their city home and find a house in the country. It took some time to find a home that would be good for their family and the pigs, and after seeing some "janky flips," they settled on their current property. The original homeowners built the home in 1979, which hasn't been updated since. Jason said that their first month's energy bill to be between $800-$900 a month, which was a shocker. That's when Stephanie decided to call GRID Alternatives and apply for our no-cost solar installation program. Stephanie shared with us that the application process was easy to understand, and Jason remembers being satisfied with the installation. He told us that our construction team worked with him on hiding the metal tubing conduit, to improve the visual look on the exterior of their home and that they did an excellent job. Being an older home, they plan to make several home improvements with the forty percent savings on their energy bill and Stephanie can't wait to update her kitchen.
