On May 22nd, 14 enthusiastic individuals packed into the training room of the Central Valley office to find out what it takes to earn the title of GRID Alternatives Team Leader. Traveling from different areas throughout 12 counties in the Central Valley, they all arrived ready to learn and practice their skills. Many of the volunteers, having participated on an average of 3-5 installs, had their skills sheets in hand ready to learn. As the day progressed, the volunteers where given the opportunity to share their personal goals and what they hope to achieve with their newly acquired skills. A number of them are currently in pursuit of their NABCEP certifications and C-46 licenses with the goal of opening up their own solar companies. Each GRID Solar Installation Supervisor took time to work with the volunteers to help them understand the installations from site planning to interconnection. The Central Valley staff completed this record breaking day by awarding 5 of the volunteers, Team Leader certificates and bright orange T-shirts to wear with pride.
