The success stories from the Solar Job Fair continue to trickle in as many of our volunteers are excited to share their good news about their new job. Through our partnership with WestCare, Majin Saldana Jr. learned about GRID Alternatives through a volunteer orientation. Majin states,“I had a rough start in life, but with help from WestCare and GRID Alternatives, my life has changed. I really enjoyed my volunteer experience with GRID, everyone was very helpful and I had a lot of fun with Oscar Mendez and the other Solar Installation Supervisors. I consider Oscar my mentor because he has helped me so much…if I ever have a question about anything solar related, I will just call him.”
With the tips and advice from the Job Readiness Workshop hosted by our partners from Employment Development Department (EDD), Majin’s confidence and skills helped land him a job with a local solar company as a Solar Installer. Majin plans to continue working his way up in the industry, and aspires to become a supervisor for a solar company. When asked, what quote best defines your work ethic and keeps you inspired, Majin quoted one of his favorite movie actors.
