On a chilly November morning in 2014, GRID completed its first multi-family installation in Fresno, California at the Viking Village Apartments. As one of the volunteers on this project, Cynthia Mancillas discovered her passion for solar installation. “It was a great feeling knowing my family and the rest of community would benefit from the install. The best feeling was when my grandpa told me how proud he was of me” stated Cynthia during a recent interview. Cynthia’s hard work and dedication clearly stood out to members of GRID’s Central Valley Fresno construction team. So they encouraged Cynthia to apply for an opening at the Fresno office which led to a job offering by GRID Alternatives.
As the Solar Warehouse Supervisor, Cynthia takes pride in what she does, making sure that everything is organized and ready to go for a successful installation! Cynthia explained, “I love that my job is hands-on and knowing that I am making a difference in many lives.” During her free time, Cynthia loves to give back to the community through church functions and mentors children from her neighborhood. Not only does she love volunteering, but has a talent for lacrosse! So watch out to all of you that play lacrosse!!
“Yes, I grew up in rough neighborhood, but that did not stop me for pursing my dreams!” stated Cynthia. Cynthia is truly an example of how hard work and dedication creates life-changing opportunities.
So what actions are you taking towards your dreams?!
