For the second year in a row, Mitsubishi Electric and students from Cal State Long Beach joined forces to install a solar electric system for a Long Beach family.
Mitsubishi Electric, a leading manufacturer of solar modules and other premier electronics, sponsored the installation by donating a 1.74 kilowatt system. Over its lifetime, the system will save the family almost $15,000, while offsetting 46 tons of greenhouse gases.
The students from Cal State Long Beach had the opportunity to learn directly from our classroom on the roof under the leadership of Solar Installation Supervisor Jose Cardenas. The students, from science and engineering backgrounds, were enthusiastic and engaged, constantly asking Jose questions about the installation process. At several points, they even reminded Jose not to forget certain steps. Jose always greeted their attention to detail with a “Yes, thank you for reminding me!”
Thank you Mitsubishi Electric for your generous donation and thank you to the students of CSULB for giving us the opportunity to share hands-on, solar knowledge with you. We hope you this experience will be useful as you become the leaders of a more sustainable tomorrow.
