Board Member Awarded Top "40 Under 40"

GRID Alternatives Mid-Atlantic's Board of Directors Treasurer, George Ashton, was awarded a top business leader in Washington Business Journal’s “Top 40 under 40” Awards. Ashton co-founded Sol Systems, a solar energy finance and investment firm, which helps finance solar energy projects. The company has financed over 180 MW of solar energy since it was formed in 2008. This capacity is enough to power 156,501 homes yearly. Thanks to Ashton’s leadership, Sol Systems has grown 1,073% in 3 years and is consistently ranked among the fastest growing companies in the region.

In addition to the successes of Sol Systems which Ashton has been instrumental in paving the way for, he is also engaged in various philanthropic ventures. Ashton volunteers for various philanthropic organizations and along with his co-founder, Yuri Horwitz, he offers a scholarship program for a student pursuing a degree in environmental studies.

GRID Alternatives is thrilled to have as a board member someone with both the passion for a clean energy future and the business and finance know-how to have achieved the successes of Sol Systems.
