Clean Cars 4 All is expanding to the entire Bay Area. The program helps qualified residents retire older, more polluting cars and replace them with clean vehicles, e-bike & bike accessories, or prepaid card for public transit.
Changes include, but are not limited to the following:
• Zip codes: expanding eligibility to all 304 Bay Area zip codes within the Bay Area Air Quality Management District’s (BAAQMD) jurisdiction
• Income: reducing the eligible household income limit to 300% of the federal poverty level, or FPL (previously 400% of the FPL)
• Retired vehicle: increasing the vehicle model year cap to 2007 or older (previously 2005)
• Award: increasing award amounts to a range between $7,000 and $12,000 (previously $5,000 to $9,500), which includes an additional $2,000 for participants who live in disadvantaged community census tracts and purchase a plug-in electric or fuel cell electric vehicle
Participants who have submitted applications before the program relaunch must submit a new application and qualify for any increased award amounts. Eligibility will be subject to current program requirements at the time of application submission.
Participants that have already purchased or leased a vehicle through CCFA, are not eligible for increased award amounts. Applications submitted prior to the closure will continue to be reviewed and active Award Letters may still to be used.
Clean Cars 4 All is part of California Climate Investments, a statewide initiative that puts billions of Cap-and-Trade dollars to work reducing GHG emissions, strengthening the economy & improving public health and the environment — particularly in disadvantaged communities.
