GRID Bay Area partnered with our local Genentech office in South San Francisco as part of the annual, nation-wide Genentech Gives Back Week to bring solar to a disabled combat veteran and his family in San Jose.
Having owned his home for twenty years, our client was proud to be the first to go solar on his street and host Genentech volunteers. Neighbors stopped by to learn about how they too could qualify to go solar with GRID and we all enjoyed ribs and chicken, generously prepared by the homeowner after the install! This experience was a true example of bringing together community, partners, and volunteers to produce a long-term solution for a family in need.
With support from Genentech and Genentech employee volunteers, this newly solarized family can expect over $30,000 in energy savings over the solar systems life-span. Additionally, this solar system will offset nearly 100 tons of greenhouse gas emissions – the equivalent of planting over 2,000 trees!
Many thanks to Genentech for helping GRID bring renewable energy and clean air to everyone in the Bay Area. Please see our photo album from the day here.
