GRID Alternatives in partnership with Ceres High School’s Manufacturing Production and Green Technology Academy completed their second installation for the 2013/2014 academic year. Eleven students from Ceres High School joined GRID’s solar installation team to complete a two day installation in the City of Turlock. Students had the opportunity to work hand in hand with GRID Alternatives’ professional installers to learn basics of solar installation and how this non-polluting technology is helping Turlock families save money on their electrical utility bills while helping clean the air at the same time.
Students had the opportunity to install solar racking, photovoltaic panels, an electrical inverter and all associated electrical wiring, including electrical interconnections. GRID Alternatives also received assistance from Turlock Irrigation District in helping defray a portion of the costs associated with the installation through their in-house rebate program. Opportunities such as these help GRID Alternatives meld its passion for solar with the energy of students wanting to experience the practical application of solar installation in a real world work environment.
