November 3rd through 7th, 2014 proved to be quite the challenging week for 86 volunteers and staff that braved the fog and cool weather to complete 8 installations for GRID Alternatives’ Central Valley Solarthon 2014. The event was held at the Parksdale Subdivision of Self-Help Enterprises in Madera, California. GRID was once again fortunate to have earned the support from partners throughout the region that included Wells Fargo Bank, RGS Energy, Schneider Electric, Proteus Inc., Central Valley Opportunity Center, and Lifestyle Solar. Thursday, November 6th was dedicated to showcasing local partnerships and lunch was provided to visiting dignitaries representing the County of Madera, Madera County Office of Education, local solar companies, and visitors from outside the Central Valley area. On Friday, students had the opportunity to participate in a lecture by Dr. Roland Winston of UC Solar providing an update on the “State of Solar” and research being conducted in Siberia by the University of California. We want to thank all that participated, as we look forward to another successful Solarthon in 2015. Make plans to join us!
