Exactly one year ago today, we released a story about the inspiring journey of Tony Hang, a Hmong refugee from Laos who settled in Fresno, and his son, Joshua. Joshua's unique role in the solar program was pivotal in his family receiving solar. He not only contacted us but also meticulously read the contracts before allowing his father to sign them. On the installation day, Joshua's dedication was evident as he woke up early to smoke tri-tip for our construction crew. His initiative and dedication left a lasting impression, leading us to invite him to become a Central Valley Board member.
At 28 years old, Joshua Hang is the youngest to join the board. His passion for serving others, especially his community, is unparalleled, and it shows. He has been a strong advocate for his family and community for as long as he can remember. As a homeowner who has benefited from our programs, he plans to share this information with everyone he meets. Now that he's a board member, Joshua's goal is to use his influence to connect more Hmong families to GRID, making them part of our larger mission.
The Fresno Hmong New Year is one of the largest gatherings of its kind. (It will be held from December 28th to December 31st, 2024, at the Fresno Fairgrounds.) Every year, tens of thousands of people from around the country, including some internationally, attend this cultural event. Joshua's efforts have significantly enhanced our presence at this year’s celebration. He played a key role in securing the best location to offer our services and volunteered to be with our team, promoting our no-cost solar program. His contributions have made this year's event even more exciting and promising for his people.
GRID Alternatives Central Valley thanks Joshua Hang for championing our presence at this year's Hmong New Year celebration. Because of him, thousands of people will have the opportunity to save money on their energy bills. We encourage everyone to learn more about our no-cost solar program and how it can benefit you and your family.
