As she steps away from her desk as a GRID Contractor and editor for our CV Newsletter permanently, Nancy Andersen is looking forward to traveling with her daughter and visiting close friends back in California. Creating costumes and attending Renfaires is a passion of hers as well, and now she will have plenty of time to enjoy them. Looking back, she shares fond memories of working with GRID Central Valley volunteers as they would visit her desk after completing an installation. The genuine smiles from people who really enjoyed serving the community will be a treasured memory for a lifetime. Retirement can be a mixed bag of emotions for some. For Nancy, it's a bittersweet symphony, a blend of nostalgia for the past and excitement for the future. Nancy started her journey with GRID in November of 2015.
She came to join our team after a fourteen-year career with the Housing Authority. She began as a volunteer coordinator and quickly moved to management after six months. Through the COVID impacts the workforce and volunteerism teams were combined. Nancy would transition to assist with the Workforce team and remained there until retiring in December of 2021. As a contractor, she would continue to help edit and manage our quarterly newsletter and set up and facilitate board meetings. In March of 2025, Nancy will fully retire from all things GRID-related.
Her amazing smile and top-tier creativity have been a significant asset to our organization, and her absence will be noticed by many. We understand that not everyone will reach a point where they can retire. It takes a lot of hard work and great financial decisions along the way. On behalf of GRID Central Valley, we wish her a wonderful retirement. She definitely earned it, and it's a bittersweet moment for us as well.
