Homeowner Pamela, Community Leader

On June 27, 2017, Pamela went solar and installed solar. Getting up on the rooftop and installing her own solar panels is one of her favorite memories of GRID.

“[The staff] trusted me to use the tools. That gave me a lot of confidence assisting and installing the solar with them.”

It has been more than half a year now since Pamela had solar on her rooftop.

“Besides assisting the assembly, I’m enjoying the benefits of lowering my electric bill. It’s pretty amazing to actually see the cost down.”

Pamela is retired from the aviation industry. She admits that her career decision was strongly influenced by her childhood and growing up in a military family.

“I was so used to moving. I enjoyed living in the Philippines growing up and loved Hawaii. I was twenty-five when I became a flight attendant. With the airlines, I always had the release to go somewhere.”

Pamela is now an active volunteer in her community. In her spare time, she can been found at the Real Food Farms learning how to harvest vegetables or prune plants. She’s also involved with the Baltimore Energy Challenge as a Team Captain, educating the community about energy efficiency.

“I’ve fallen in love with volunteering. I have the opportunity to get to know my community and make upgrades to their homes and encourage them to get involved, and help them get involved in weatherization.”
