During a cold November winters day in 2014, William began his journey with GRID Alternatives as a Proteus student in the Central Valley. “My volunteer experience with GRID Alternatives was powerful. I learned first-hand how to install photovoltaic systems on live occupied houses” states William. In fact, William continued to invest his time with GRID Alternatives and soon became a Team Leader. “I was fortunate to get to enough installs and became a Team Leader, which gave me the opportunity to work on my management skills. I must say the real experience was working with the homeowner and witnessing how GRID Alternatives makes such a difference in their lives” states William.
William’s passion and investment in learning more about the solar industry helped him attain his new position as a Solar and Weatherization Instructor at Proteus Inc. “My typical work day as an instructor starts and ends with the students. I am not just teaching the students about photovoltaic systems, or the industry but about life and what they can expect when they leave my class. As a solar instructor, it is vital to provide my students with the necessary tools and knowledge to be successful individuals in the solar industry and GRID has proven to be a great partner in accomplishing that” states William.
We are very proud to see William excel in his new career path as a Solar and Weatherization Instructor and wish him all the best!
