March 7th and 8th, 2013, California State University Chico's Institute for Sustainable Development hosted "This Way to Sustainability", a conference focusing on all aspects of sustaibale development and culture. Over 100 speakers shared valuable information with more than 1400 participants. GRID Alternatives hosted a full presentation led by staffer Rebekah Casey and Jenka Terentieva, co-owner of solar company Asolia. The presentation focused on solar technology, it's economics, and GRID Alternatives' role in facilitating residential solar for low-income families.
Each year at the conference the Institue recognizes businesses, individuals, students, non-profit organizations, and community members for their successful efforts of working toward a sustainable future with the "Greenie" award. Nominees must have a sustainable solution that addresses the 3 Es of Sustainability: Economy, Ecology, and Equity. GRID Alternatives is proud to report that were were selected as the winner of the 2013 Community Organization "Greenie" Award. We are honored to have been recognized by our community and look forward to working closely with Chico State Sustainability students for years to come. Thank You for the beautiful, handmade, recycled glass award! It is proudly displayed in our Chico, CA office.
