SunPower® Solar Academy: Real-World Business-Focused Experience

The SunPower Solar Academy is a week-long, intensive, work-based learning experience for high school students that includes lectures from professionals, hands-on activities and field visits. Student teams worked on a solar project to create a startup company and design a solar system for a client.

Growing Pains

One night late from work Juan, Hermila’s husband heard the heart wrenching, but suppressed cry of his very tough eleven-year-old daughter Diana. The very next day, Juan took the day off work and drove 90 miles to the nearest children’s hospital. The diagnosis revealed an advanced case Ewing Sarcoma, a painful bone cancer.

Working Together To Make The World A Better Place

A partnership between Stone Soup Fresno, Reading and Beyond, and GRID Alternatives Central Valley paved way for a wonderful solar system funded through the City of Fresno Community Development Block Grants Program (CDBG), to be installed on Stone Soup Fresno.

Shadowing Success

Edison Tigers Take on Solar Intensive Training

Edison High School has partnered with GRID Alternatives for over seven years in our Solar Futures program. At GRID Alternatives Central Valley, we work with over 30 different high schools to serve our local communities. Over the past year we've piloted “in-class” solar programs, and just launched our first 20-Hour Solar Intensive Training program with Edison’s Green Academy.
