Dominique Leake

Dominique grew up in Capitol Heights, Maryland, just outside of Washington, DC. Before getting into solar, she worked as a flagger—a job where she had to stand in or near traffic to guide drivers around construction zones and detours. Then a friend told her about the Solar Works DC program. After graduating from the Fall 2021 cohort, her work ethic and willingness to learn made her a natural fit as a workforce training supervisor. “It’s exciting for females. No one expects a female to be installing panels or in the construction field at all. Now being a teacher, I’m able to change other people’s lives.”
