Kennard Carter

Before he applied to join the Solar Works DC program in 2019, Kennard worked two jobs—days and nights. After graduating from the program, he worked for two solar companies and rose from installer 1 to installer 3/electrician. As GRID Mid-Atlantic’s workforce training supervisor, Kennard will provide solar and job training for more than 150 trainees per year. “GRID felt like family and I wanted to get back to that environment,” Kennard said. “They’ve supported me in so many ways—they’re always positive and have a lot of good energy and want to see everyone succeed. I’m excited to go deep and connect with trainees on a personal level to give guidance and mentorship.”
