We love to bring employment opportunities to the communities we serve! GRID Alternatives North Valley held our 2nd Annual Solar Career Fair that was no cost to participants this month. Participants arrived ready to meet solar company recruiters, receive professional advice on their resumes, build their professional network and receive a professional headshot. The event took place at GRID Workforce partner Greater Sacramento Urban League’s (GSUL) “Sacramento Works America’s Job Center” in the Del Paso Heights neighborhood. The center is open to the public and serves 3,000 clients each year. GSUL provides many services like weekly Cal-Job registrations, workshops, employment access and more.
Holding the event at the GSUL center was a no-brainer because we want to meet people where they’re at! There were 50 people in attendance and companies such as; Aerotek, Cap City Solar, Just Energy and People Ready participated in the event. Sesar Sanchez was the photographer who took headshots. Local GRID Staff were involved in the event and Workforce staff from our Headquarters in Oakland came down to support and facilitate resume writing and LinkedIn profile workshops. We were delighted to see a few familiar faces which were 4 of our past Installation Basics Training (IBT) trainees show up and continue their job search. Next year, we’re excited to have our 3rd annual Solar Career Fair - hope to see you there!
