GRID Participates in NeighborWorks Sacramento’s 30th Annual “Paint the Town” Event

Last month GRID Alternatives North Valley staff participated in NeighborWorks Sacramento’s 30th Annual “Paint the Town” neighborhood improvement event. For some staff this was their first time volunteering, while others were coming back again to lend a helping hand. NeighborWorks Sacramento is a partner of GRID and we were delighted to participate by serving the community of Del Paso Heights through beautifying two homes. The team spent the day working alongside volunteers from Wells Fargo, Sacramento State University, Brother to Brother and Sister to Sister. Volunteers spent the day doing yard work and painting the home, amongst other tasks. It was great to see the interaction between the homeowner, who was a Sacramento State alumna, and the current students.

Each year, NeighborWorks Sacramento chooses a street near one of their recently renovated homes for this event. The organization has served more than 400 projects in the Del Paso Heights neighborhood over the last 29 years! Through this initiative, they focus their efforts on one specific block in order to maximize the community impact. They meet with residents to develop work-plans for home improvement projects to meet each resident’s needs. We are looking forward to doing more work in communities and serving Del Paso Heights with NeighborWorks Sacramento next year.
