Sacramento Kings Staff Volunteer with GRID

GRID Alternatives North Valley has been selected for the Sacramento Kings’ Spotlight on Sustainability Night. Using basketball as an agent of change in the community, each season the Sacramento Kings share their platform with local nonprofits for spotlight night to promote messages of sustainability, health, and education. As the growing concerns around the climate crisis continue to demand change, it’s important for organizations focused on sustainability to have opportunities to share their work with the community. GRID Alternatives will be spotlighted during the first Kings game of 2020, on January 2, as the team hosts the Memphis Grizzlies.

To kick-off this partnership, the Kings staff members made a meaningful impact in Sacramento by participating in a live solar installation for the Sarkisyan family. The team of 8 staff members spent the day installing a sixteen solar panel system on the home of Asmik Sarkisyan. Asmik is an Armenian American widow living on a fixed income. The team worked diligently alongside the Sacramento Kings’ mascot, Slamson the Lion, GRID staff, and even GRID’s mascot Sunny the Solar Panel. The system installed will save this deserving homeowner over $18,000 over the system’s lifetime. The excitement from this install has GRID anticipating our upcoming Spotlight on Sustainability Night.
