GRID is thrilled to announce our role as part of the implementation team for the groundbreaking Illinois Solar for All program (ILSFA), in partnership with Elevate Energy. The Illinois Solar for All program provides incentives that help low-income households in Illinois access solar, promoting equitable access to clean energy throughout the state.
We’ll be providing our workforce development expertise to help ensure that the employment opportunities created by the program and Illinois’ growing solar industry will reach environmental justice communities, returning citizens, foster care alumni, and others with barriers to employment. In addition, GRID is partnering with two job training organizations through the Future Energy Jobs Act to provide hands-on solar installation skills training that will help their trainees access solar careers. We kicked off this effort with our first training cohort in Summer 2018.
The Illinois Solar for All program is expected to launch this spring. In the meantime, we are hiring a ILSFA Job Training Manager to lead the program’s workforce development outcomes and help ensure that Illinois’ growing solar industry includes and benefits everyone.
