We recently reached a huge milestone by installing our 10,000th solar electric system in Rancho Cordova! To celebrate this huge accomplishment, supporters, dignitaries such as Mayor Linda Burge, other solar industry professionals, and media outlets joined our team along with GRID CEO Erica Mackie for a gathering at recipient Brita West's home. Over the course of setting up this installation we encountered a few barriers, but with the help of Rebuilding Together to assist Brita with a new roof, we were finally able to move forward.
Erica Mackie was mistress of ceremonies and spoke on the importance of community. “Our vision is that we can make a transition to clean renewable energy that includes everyone and by every we mean everyone with a Big E not a little e, that means our communities, that means renters, that means folks who wouldn’t be able to get solar otherwise." Mackie further stated, “ It's not just about slapping up shiny blue panels that we all really love, it's about how do we transform communities, and really build power in our communities".
We were so happy to have Brita referred from a previous GRID homeowner. Ms. West's positive and radiant energy made the day that much more enjoyable. This is the motivation we need to provide 10,000 more families with clean renewable energy.
