GRID GLA is receiving a $500,000 philanthropic investment from JPMorgan Chase to support our Behind the Walls solar workforce training program, which will prepare women who were formerly incarcerated in LA County Lynwood Women’s Jail for career opportunities in solar and renewable energy. The 13-week, paid program will provide hands-on training for solar panel installation, along with job placement support for those who successfully complete the program. 
Our Installation Basics Training (IBT) students began their training on rooftops for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic. Students joined our construction crew at solar installations for homeowners throughout Los Angeles.
Our construction team has been working hard on installing a 108 kW solar system on SagePointe, a three-story, 56-unit apartment community in the Wilmington neighborhood of Los Angeles. he new complex is for seniors 55 and older who have experienced homelessness and need stable housing with supportive services. The 243 solar panels will bring an expected $540,000 in net lifetime savings.
