Bargaun Health Post, located in Bargaun, Humla, Nepal, serves 1,200 individuals from four villages across three wards of the rural municipality, seeing 10-15 patients daily. This community health post provides a range of services including delivery care, immunization, nutrition programs, directly observed therapy services programs, and family planning programs. It operates with a staff of seven members.
The implementation of a reliable solar power system would greatly benefit the health post by enabling the use of essential equipment such as warmers, autoclaves, water warmers, lights, electric jugs, and induction stoves for daily activities.
Bargaun is a Dalit community, historically marginalized and facing routine abuse and prejudice, despite the caste system being outlawed in Nepal since 1963. The Bargaun Health Post specifically serves the Dalit community, providing health facilities and organizing community and school-level awareness programs.
Reliable solar power would provide clean electricity to power lights and medical equipment, which is especially crucial in emergencies, thus enhancing the overall quality of healthcare services provided to the Dalit community.
