"Catching the Sun" world premier

As part of June’s LA Film Fest, GRID Alternatives Greater Los Angeles (GLA) attended the world premiere of solar documentary Catching the Sun. The film follows several solar industry professionals, entrepreneurs, and job trainees as they strive to make a positive impact in the global energy transition through the solar industry. Their projects aim to create clean energy solutions accessible to all, creating thousands of new jobs along the way.

The film shows how job training programs specifically for solar, such as GRID’s, can positively impact workers seeking experience and training and ultimately, employment. GRID was just one of the many groups featured and together, Catching the Sun highlighted the huge potential the solar industry has to capitalize on environmental sustainability, job creation, and community development.

While at the film’s premier, GLA’s outreach team had the pleasure of meeting civil rights and environmental activist Van Jones whose work is also featured in the film. In 2008, President Obama appointed Jones as Special Advisor for Green Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation.

Thank you Catching the Sun for featuring GRID's work! We had a great time at the premier.
