In January 2017, GRID Alternatives completed construction of a 6.36kW ground-mount solar PV system at Robert and Sue Dorame’s home as part of a demonstration project in partnership with NPHA that is supported by a grant from All Points North Foundation.

Last October, GRID had the opportunity to host 34 Northland Controls employees in California’s North Coast for their 2016 Northland Challenge.

In October, GRID partnered with the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory to provide solar training to five Indian tribes.

Thanks to support from our longtime partner Wells Fargo, GRID is now operating in ten states, tribal communities nationally, and in Nicaragua and Nepal, and pioneering new models for delivering solar to underserved communities across the globe.

When Shivam Desai, a junior studying physics at Santa Clara University, first heard about GRID Alternatives from his professor, he was intrigued by its multifaceted strategy to address social justice and environmental justice issues at the same time.

The holidays came early for three California families this year. Over the past month, three teams of SunPower employee volunteers came out to install solar for families in Richmond, Salinas, and Hawaiian Gardens, kicking off a renewed partnership with GRID.
