Teams of women job trainees, solar professionals and top Denver executives came together on the rooftop to help GRID Alternatives and SunEdison kick off a National Women in Solar Initiative.

Not many can say that they volunteered their spring break week installing solar panels in the lovely city of Denver, CO. But that’s exactly what University of Central Arkansas’s Environmental Alliance Group did.

California State University, Chico students joined the GRID Alternatives North Valley office at two installs in Hamilton City and Chico for their Spring Break

On March 24th and 25th Stanford University Students joined GRID’s solar installation supervisors for two days of Solar Fun!!!

On Friday, December 13th, GRID Alternatives Greater Los Angeles hosted its annual Volunteer Appreciation Social. With more than 100 guests in attendance, positive energy flowed throughout the GLA warehouse. Attendees included experienced team leaders, generous volunteers who have donated their time over the years, as well as job trainees and professors from our various partner job training groups.

Our future is determined in large part by the choices we make every day both large and small. If all we’ve done as a society has been to dirty our air with factories and power plants, we can choose cleaner methods of energy production. If we’ve hit a rough patch in our personal lives, we can choose to fight despair with education and mental discipline. A recent event in the Central Coast brought two groups together that made those better choices which point a way towards a brighter future for us all.

It was a typical GRID Colorado day - sunny skies and an awesome team of volunteers, raising solar panels to the roof of the small home of another wonderful family.

California Governor Jerry Brown visited a GRID Alternatives installation at the Long Beach home of Maribel and Jose Mendoza to see firsthand how solar benefits local families.
