GRID In the News

A new video, recently screened at the Access to Power energy forum in Washington, D.C., documents GRID Alternatives' efforts to relieve economic pressures on low-income families through solar.

In March 2016, the U.S. Department of Energy announced that the Bishop Paiute Tribe was selected for funding to install 120 kilowatts of solar photovoltaics on 34 single-family, low-income homes. Leveraging GRID Alternatives' position as the program manager for California's Single-family Affordable Solar Homes (SASH) Program, the GRID team was able to help the Bishop Paiute Tribe install five solar PV systems with rebates from SASH.

In Northeast Washington, D.C., one homeowner recently gave his two-story home an expensive upgrade: $30,000 worth of solar panels. Homeowner Anthony David was joined by the Solar Energy Industries Association and the GRID Alternatives during the solar installation for the launch of #MillionSolarStrong, a campaign celebrating and promoting the growth of the solar industry in the U.S.
