In light of recent developments compelling many to spend more time at home (and online), we at GRID have been considering various methods of expanding our training offerings to include a more robust spectrum of learning opportunities for community members who may be seeking new career opportunities or want to continue their studies from home. Our new distance learning IBT program model will launch on June 1st!
Solar installation skills are increasingly relevant in today's world as need and demand for solar energy increases in light of continued environmental challenges, the State of California's 2020 solar mandate, and advancing clean energy technology.
We're proud to be part of the solution for meeting these needs, and this moment in our community, as innovators towards making solar more accessible to anyone who has the interest and willingness to learn.
Our Workforce and Training staff had this to say about our new online training program:
"Our Workforce and Training Teams have been hard at work over the last 2 months developing a comprehensive distance learning platform to teach our IBT (Installation Basics Training) Hybrid program. We have taken all of our great classroom content and converted it to a Google Classroom program with all of the same quality modules and lessons that we teach in class but in a distance learning format. Participants will be able to complete their 2 weeks of classroom/lab training on the platform, and if they pass the online capstone exam, they can qualify to join us for 2 weeks of hands-on training at real solar job sites. They will then work with our Workforce Team to prepare for career placement opportunities. We have created a very unique model for this program, and we are looking forward to its launch."
