Solarthon

This October, GRID Alternatives is energizing Rocklin with a Solarthon event, raising funds for and awareness of our work around the North Valley.
The quiet community of Rancho Moro Cojo lit up on June 22nd when GRID Alternatives Central Coast hosted its annual Solarthon fundraiser and block party. Around 100 people—community volunteers, corporate sponsor teams and solar job trainees—showed up at 8am to install solar electric systems for five deserving local families.
This year is the sixth annual Central Valley Solarthon. This event brings together over one hundred corporate employee volunteers, job trainees, and community volunteers.
From newly built affordable housing developments in the Central Valley to well established neighborhoods in San Diego, Solarthon is putting solar on rooftops all over California.
GRID IE's 2013 Solarthon will be in Temecula!
The 'whoosh' of the email announcing our 2013 Solarthon had barely faded away when Peter Brooks contacted us. "We benefited from Solarthon 2011 in Azalea Park and would like to give back."
Erica Court, a normally quiet cul-de-sac in Oceano, CA was bursting with solar energy Saturday October 20th as more than 150 volunteers—individual sponsors, corporate teams, job trainees and the homeowners themselves—get up on roofs to install solar electric systems for eight low-income families during the GRID Alternatives Central Coast Solarthon.
Los Angeles is increasingly becoming a clean technology hub, but for South Los Angeles residents, who face severe economic and environmental challenges—high rates of foreclosure, unemployment, and pollution—the benefits of clean energy are typically out of reach. All that changed in one neighborhood on Saturday November 10th, when GRID Alternatives Greater Los Angeles installed solar electric systems for ten low-income families in the lovely Willowbrook area.
Put on your party hardhat and celebrate: the 7th Annual Bay Area Solarthon on July 21st in San Jose was a HUGE success! Thank you to all of our amazing sponsors, Solar Champions, homeowners and job trainees from the Center for Employment Training who all came together to successfully install 13 solar electric systems (a total of 262 solar panels) in one day!
It’s official: the North Valley GRID Alternatives Office successfully completed our first annual Solarthon on October 6th, in Chico, CA. Thank you to all our supporters!
