Women in Solar

Teams of women job trainees, solar professionals and top Denver executives came together on the rooftop to help GRID Alternatives and SunEdison kick off a National Women in Solar Initiative.

The women of GRID Greater Los Angeles attended the first Women in Green Power Breakfast of 2014, centered around an inspiring conversation between Ana Guerrero, the Chief of Staff to Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, and sustainability leader, Heather Rosenberg.

GRID Alternatives' Women's Builds help get women excited about working in renewables, but to really close the gender gap, we'll need more women mentors, too.

In February, GRID Alternatives Greater Los Angeles completed its eighth and final solar installation project supported by a grant from the William C. Bannerman Foundation. This grant helped support the installation of 26kW of clean solar power for Los Angeles area low-income homeowners, providing over $240,000 worth of affordable energy for the families who need it the most.

Courtney Dittmar was thrilled the day she took home her orange Team Leader shirt. For months she had been commuting by bus, train, bike and foot to get to installs in Richmond, Oakland and San Francisco from her home in Mountain View, and she finally had something to show for it.

We would like to celebrate Capital City Solar’s support of the North Valley Solarthon Women’s Build team. At the Solarthon event on October 6, the Women’s Build team will be installing a 2 kW system for a single-mother of two.
