In October 2021, GRID Alternatives installed a 18kW grid-tied solar electric system at Ciudad de los Niños orphanage.  Solar will lower the home’s electric bill by 90% saving them approximately $270 a month.  The cost savings will allow the home to keep the lights on and hire additional staff to manage health services for the orphanage and daycare.  The solar system is estimated to prevent 511 metric tons of carbon emissions over the life of the system, the equivalent of planting nearly 8,450 trees, providing clean air impacts that benefit all.
