Mansarobar Model School, located in Ladewada, Humla, Nepal, is a residential public school and hostel serving 600 students from grades 1-12 from across the Humla district. The hostel accommodates 50 students from remote areas. Currently, the school has a small solar home system that is insufficient to meet its needs, and the hostel lacks electricity entirely.
Implementing a more robust solar power system would significantly benefit the students by enabling evening study sessions, powering laptops, projectors, geysers for hot water, electric heaters during winter, and providing lights and electricity in the corridors and bathrooms.
In 2025, GRID is working with Mansarobar School to install a solar electric system to bring a source of reliable, renewable electricity. Solar will allow Mansarobar School to better support its children's education and boarding needs. Solar will power devices and lights that provide learning technology, facilitate flexible study hours, and protect the children and property at night.
