In April 2024, corporate travelers from IGS Energy worked with GRID to install an off-grid solar system at the woman-owned Eco-Hotel on the Solentiname Islands in Nicaragua.
The Eco-Hotel is owned and operated by a pioneering entrepreneur and boat captain with an innovative vision. The national electric grid has not reached the Solentiname Islands and the hotel owner aspires to provide her clients better services and clean, reliable electricity 24 hours a day.
GRID and travelers install 5.13kW off-grid, battery-based system to provide clean energy. Solar will help attract more visitors, increasing the hotel's income and allowing it to offer more services and jobs for her community.
Thank you to IGS Energy for supporting this project.
