Born and raised in the Central Valley, Michael Sanchez has been striving to find a way to support his family. Enrolling in a photovoltaic class with Proteus Inc., a local job training organization, Michael stated, “I was headed down the wrong road and then found Proteus, which inspired me to switch gears and do better for myself. Mr. Rick Gonzalez’s passion for teaching about photovoltaics helped solidify my interest working within the solar industry.”
Through Proteus, Michael was introduced to GRID Alternatives Central Valley in the summer of 2015. Eager to further his knowledge in the solar industry, Michael would take any opportunity to participate in upcoming installations and with hard work and dedication, he soon attained Team Leader status. With a smile on his face Michael stated, “I enjoyed volunteering with GRID and I appreciate that the staff was patient, knowledgeable and just fun to work with.”
Through his passion to gain knowledge about solar, Michael has installed for many companies in the industry and had the opportunity to work on a PG&E solar farm through a temp agency. “In five years from now, I see myself as being a Foreman for a big solar company. I would still like to install solar because I love doing the mathematical component of installing.” Although Michael’s journey of success hasn’t been easy, he continues to thrive and exceed his expectations. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” –Philippians 4:13, motivates Michael to continue to move forward, despite his challenges.
