Fundación Cerebro, located in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico, is an organization dedicated to providing affordable physical therapy to individuals in need, focusing on the elderly and vulnerable populations who may not have access to rehabilitation services. Founded in 2016 by Pablo and Daniel Arzate, the foundation addresses the lack of accessible physical therapy in Mexicali, particularly for conditions like paralysis. This project involves installing a 6kW grid-tied solar system with battery backup to reduce energy costs and redirect savings toward expanding therapy services and improving facility quality.
With the solar installation, Fundación Cerebro will be able to reduce its monthly energy expenses significantly. The cost savings from solar will allow the foundation to invest in essential resources such as therapeutic materials, air conditioning for patient comfort, and advanced medical equipment for improved therapy options. These upgrades will enable Fundación Cerebro to enhance the quality of care and increase accessibility for families in need, supporting its mission to provide comprehensive rehabilitation for those affected by disability.
The mission of Fundación Cerebro is to provide individuals with disabilities access to rehabilitation and physical therapy, promoting independence and a healthy, productive life. They aim to improve patient quality of life through comprehensive, tailored care that addresses both temporary and permanent disabilities. The foundation envisions becoming a recognized center of excellence in physical rehabilitation, known for its operational quality and compassionate care. This goal is driven by their commitment to making high-quality therapy accessible to vulnerable populations, supported by robust infrastructure, skilled professionals, and advanced equipment.
The primary goal of Fundación Cerebro is to deliver affordable medical and physiotherapy care that improves the quality of life for vulnerable individuals with disabilities. Their specific objectives include:
- Preventing complications for individuals with disabilities through early intervention.
- Offering tailored physiotherapy and medical services to enhance patient functionality.
- Empowering families with the skills needed for social integration and support.
- Facilitating the social and occupational reintegration of individuals with disabilities.
With an estimated 700-1,000 patients annually, Fundación Cerebro serves a crucial role in the Mexicali area, particularly as the demand for elder care grows. The foundation provides essential physical therapy and serves as an educational resource for the community, helping raise awareness about the importance of physical rehabilitation.
