Install Solar with GRID in Nicaragua, Mexico or Nepal

Enjoy the camaraderie of group travel by joining a group of up to 10 people on a GRID-guided trip to Nepal, Nicaragua or Mexico.  Travel by yourself or bring along a friend or family member and explore a new place while installing solar for a project that benefits an underserved community.  GRID Alternatives has been hosting international trips for more than 10 years.

Join us on a 7-day journey to Mexico, Nicaragua or Nepal where you will install a solar system while meeting like-minded people and learning about life in another culture.  During your stay, you will travel as a group with bilingual guides, learning about the history and culture of your travel destination.  You will spend 3-4 days at a solar project site installing a solar system from start to finish and will participate in cultural activities during the rest of the trip visiting different parts of the country.  You can travel by yourself and meet new people along the way, or bring a friend or family member on your adventure travel experience.  GRID takes care of all of your meals, accommodations, in-country transportation, and activities during the week so all you have to do is show up.

How Much Does It Cost?

Trip fees start at $2,500 per person for individual travelers and vary based on your travel destination.  Your trip fee covers all of the costs associated with your meals, accommodations, in-country transportation and activities during your 7-day stay and part of your fee helps pay for the solar project you will install.   Many of our solar projects in Mexico, Nicaragua and Nepal are funded through our international travel program and would not otherwise happen without your generous support.  Space on our International trips is limited and trips are filled on a first-come first-served basis.

Your Impact

Millions of people around the world live without access to reliable electricity and rely on harmful, polluting alternatives like diesel and gas generators, kerosene lamps, and candles to see at night. Even in communities where the electric grid is present, the financial barriers are so high that electricity remains inaccessible and unreliable. Solar provides clean, reliable electricity 24 hours a day, enabling people to access information, stay healthy, communicate with others, enjoy entertainment, start small businesses to generate income, and live a more comfortable life.
