GRID co-founder Erica Mackie is featured in three videos from our longtime partner Enphase Energy to celebrate 10 years of innovation. The three part series looks at the growth of solar in the past decade, the inflection point we are at today, and the future we envision.

With help from Fresno Grizzlies players, Joe Musgrove and Tommy Shirley, Sunrun Solar, and sales representatives from Legacy Power, GRID was honored to install a 4kW solar system for Yolanda Lopez and her family.  Yolanda Lopez was overwhelmed with joy as she gave her speech, thanking everyone who participated in installing solar on her home. “I would just like to thank GRID Alternatives’ solar program and all involved with providing my family with this wonderful gift.

Getting out into the field with GRID Alternatives is always a highlight of the school week for students at Yosemite High School in Merced, but this week, it had extra meaning. Not only were the students working side-by-side with students from the Merced Adult School to install solar for a former Adult School classmate, but they also got a visit from State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Tom Torlakson.
In a new and groundbreaking partnership, GRID Alternatives and Grand Valley Power (GVP) teamed up this year for nation’s first community solar array dedicated exclusively to low-income customers. The project has generated interest from utilities and policy-makers across the country, and Grand Valley Power and GRID Alternatives were invited by United States Congressman Jared Polis to brief a congressional working group on Innovation in Alternatives Energies on May 6.

In an effort to bring more equality to the solar workforce, solar manufacturing giantSunEdison announced Friday that it is giving a $5 million contribution to Grid Alternatives, the largest nonprofit solar installer in the United States, and whose work includes providing job training to women, minorities and other underrepresented groups in the industry.
