SunPower…Helping Build Careers In Solar

Students from across the Central Valley region got a crash course in solar energy last month thanks to our longtime partner, SunPower! SunPower Solar Academies were held in the communities of Lemoore, Cutler-Orosi and Bakersfield, giving students the opportunity to learn about the solar industry, explore career options, and develop team projects to present to their peers. GRID Central Valley staff also participated in the events, presenting to students about our Solar Futures program, designed to provide classroom and hands-on solar education to high schools.

Solarthon Success in Menlo Park!

Dorothy Stallworth has seen a lot in the more than 40 years she has spent living in Menlo Park. But never, she shared, has she experienced anything like GRID Alternatives’ 12th Annual Solarthon, which recently filled her small Belle Haven neighborhood with more than 120 volunteers, job trainees, and partners on Saturday, June 10th.

SunPower brings holiday cheer and solar savings to CA families under renewed partnership

The holidays came early for three California families this year. Over the past month, three teams of SunPower employee volunteers came out to install solar for families in Richmond, Salinas, and Hawaiian Gardens, kicking off a renewed partnership with GRID.

Colorado Community Solarthon celebrates low-income solar access

Colorado Governor Hicklenlooper attends the Colorado Community Solarthon, where volunteers and job trainees installed a rooftop community solar array on a municipal building to offset bills for qualifying customers of Fort Collins Utilities.
