Salesforce Does it Again!
On Thursday, October 30th, volunteers from Salesforce joined GRID Alternatives of Greater Los Angeles to install a 1.72 kW solar system in Lynwood, California. The system is expected to create over $15,000 in savings for the family over the system’s lifetime and reduce carbon emissions by 47 tons. The family that received the system is truly thankful.

Green Apple Day of Service 2014
Three volunteer teams came out for the U.S. Green Building Council's Green Apple Day of Service in El Monte, CA. Check out a short, fun video of volunteers from Vons grocery stores installing solar with GRID! In addition to Vons volunteers, we also had a group of high school students getting a hands-on introduction to solar.

SunEdison Returns to the Valley
GRID Alternatives is fortunate to have a partnership like SunEdison’s whose employees are actively engaged in building solar installation skills and understanding of the industry through hands-on application. On September 23 & 24, 2014, GRID Central Valley had the opportunity to work hand in hand with crews from SunEdison installing solar in Stockton, California.

Rebuilding Smart with Solar

“When Hurricane Sandy hit I was at home finishing up dinner. I looked out the door and saw the water coming up my street. I called my neighbor who had a two-story house and said, ‘I’m coming over with the cat.’”

Helen Wilson, a 13-year resident of Union Beach, soon realized that she, like so many other families in this hard-hit town, would not be going home again. But now, 18 months later, Wilson is getting ready to move into a brand new, solar-powered home.
