Thursday, December 11 – Holiday Open House, Volunteer Appreciation & Final Sip & Solar of 2014 – Join us as we celebrate the Holidays!

On Thursday, October 30th, volunteers from Salesforce joined GRID Alternatives of Greater Los Angeles to install a 1.72 kW solar system in Lynwood, California. The system is expected to create over $15,000 in savings for the family over the system’s lifetime and reduce carbon emissions by 47 tons. The family that received the system is truly thankful.

As 2014 winds down and as we celebrate Thanksgiving, GRID Alternatives Central Coast would like to acknowledge all our wonderful supporters: volunteers, corporate sponsors, partners, community organizations, friends, and family. With your generosity, our Central Coast regional office celebrated our 500th install last month.

Three volunteer teams came out for the U.S. Green Building Council's Green Apple Day of Service in El Monte, CA. Check out a short, fun video of volunteers from Vons grocery stores installing solar with GRID! In addition to Vons volunteers, we also had a group of high school students getting a hands-on introduction to solar.

GRID Alternatives is fortunate to have a partnership like SunEdison’s whose employees are actively engaged in building solar installation skills and understanding of the industry through hands-on application. On September 23 & 24, 2014, GRID Central Valley had the opportunity to work hand in hand with crews from SunEdison installing solar in Stockton, California.

GRID, our partners, our volunteers, and our homeowners all contributed for one day of installation for our 9th annual Solarthon!

A few months ago, the final panel was placed and the wires were tied-in on the final solar home of a 10 home Walnut Creek Habitat for Humanity development – now filled with 10 families.
