Today, BMO announced a $3 million donation in support of GRID Alternative’s (GRID) low-to-no cost solar energy systems and storage, clean mobility, and job training programs for underserved and unserved families throughout California, Colorado, and Native communities in the western United States. GRID Alternatives, the largest nonprofit installer of renewable energy in the U.S., announced a renewed partnership with Bank of America. Bank of America is a long-standing corporate partner that has renewed its investment of $300,000 in one of GRID’s workforce development programs, the SolarCorps Fellowship Program. This funding will support GRID’s 37 SolarCorps Fellows in obtaining hands-on experience, mentorship, professional development, and increased knowledge about a career in renewable energy.
GRID Alternatives is deeply disappointed in the initial guidance released by the Biden Administration regarding its implementation of the new Low-Income Communities Bonus Credit Program established by the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). With little explanation, the Treasury Department rejected program design recommendations developed through intensive collaboration with clean energy industry, environmental nonprofit, affordable housing, and social, economic, and racial justice advocate leaders.
