GRID Alternatives Greater Los Angeles was proud to host some of the City of Los Angeles’ most prominent policy makers, including keynotes from Lauren Faber (Chief Sustainability Officer, City of Los Angeles) and Nancy Sutley (Los Angeles Department of Water and Power).

Solar has the potential to bring dramatic savings to both operators and tenants. But state solar rebate programs are extremely popular.

Earlier this month, GRID Alternatives paid tribute to that effort and celebrated the coming Solar For All program with our first project in Illinois, a demonstration of the myriad ways solar can benefit local communities.

In 2018, California will launch the largest solar on affordable housing rebate program to date, and Los Angeles happens to be home to the most rebate-eligible properties of any county in the state.

Like GRID Alternatives teams in other regions of the United States, we're enthusiastic about the untapped talent that the solar industry can unlock in our recently-released men and women.

The Solar industry had the second largest quarter in US History based on a recent report from the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) — installing over 2.3 gigawatts of solar PV — and is expected to grow to 12 gigawatts of solar capacity by the end of 2017. GRID Alternatives contributed to this growth as the largest nonprofit solar organization in the industry, with nearly 1,200 systems installed in 2017. GRID is also an innovative industry leader through the development of our Multifamily Affordable Solar Program. Our teams assist developers and governmental agencies in providing renewable energy solutions to individuals who live in multifamily structures such as apartment complexes.

The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) plays a big role in GRID’s work to bring solar to low-income families in California, but it isn’t often that CPUC staffers themselves get to see that work in action. But earlier this month, six CPUC staffers got to spend a day installing solar with GRID!

On November 8th, California voters once again go to the polls, choosing elected officials from local mayors to President of the United States.
