"Gramma can you believe it? You got solar panels!" squealed eight-year old Diamond as her grandmother looked through pictures of the solar array that was just installed on her roof. Diamond's grandmother, Ida, heard about GRID Alternatives when its offices were only located on the West Coast and waited patiently for years hoping GRID would come to this area. Now that GRID Alternatives has a Mid-Atlantic Regional office in DC, Ida was finally able to get solar on her Baltimore home. People from the Baltimore community came together to make this installation happen: local volunteers, GRID Solar Corps fellows and staff members, AmeriCorps Members from Civic Works' Baltimore Energy Challenge program, and Ida's family members all had a hand in this project. This solar installation was one of the first of many to take place in Baltimore, a result of the shared mission and collaboration of multiple organizations.

The Mid-Atlantic office would like to give a huge congratulations to Antwain Nelson and Marc Spohn! These two gentlemen started as SolarCorps Construction Fellows and have each been promoted to full-time employees with GRID.

Jennifer White is here to help. The UCLA Graduate has master’s degrees in both Public Policy and Education, she is self disciplined, highly motivated and is currently channeling her significant energies into her position as a GRID Alternatives Outreach Fellow.

Esmeralda Ramirez’s life changed over a cup of coffee - and volunteering with GRID. An army veteran, she had recently returned from the Middle East, where she spent twelve years working in fuel security in Iraq, Kuwait and Afghanistan, receiving and testing fuel shipped in for convoys and other military transport vehicles, and wanted a change.

As part of AmeriCorps Week (March 2-12) some of our amazing SolarCorps members took over the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) Instagram and Snapchat accounts! Fellows from all over GRID Alternatives had the chance to share their work -and passion- with CNCS fans.

Tanya was chosen as a Construction SolarCorps Fellow in September of 2015. We asked her to share a little more about herself and the impact GRID and solar has made on her.

We are excited to welcome Jocelyn DeLeon to the GRID Alternatives family as our new Outreach Assistant in the Central Coast South office.

Starting a new year, GRID Alternatives Central Coast is looking back on the wonderful work we’ve accomplished in 2015…A New office opening, 123 systems installed, 17 job trainees hired in the Clean Energy sector, and bringing more and more solar to the Central Coast residents who need it most! We are so grateful to all our supporters and we definitely couldn’t do it without YOU!

The GRID Mid-Atlantic office would like to give a warm welcome to James Brown and Aaron Lovett! Since May 2015, they have been contributing to GRID as DCSEU workforce development interns, but Aaron and James will now be working with the Mid-Atlantic team full time through our SolarCorps fellowship!
