We're joining President Obama and over 300 other companies, organizations and public agencies in making major new commitments to deploy renewable energy. In support of the Obama administration’s national renewable energy goals, we're committing to help install 100 MW of solar power on affordable single-family and multifamily homes across the country by 2024.
PG&E is a big supporter of solar energy. This March PG&E is planning on celebrate its 100,000th rooftop solar installation! On Thursday February 20th, a team of PG&E employee volunteers joined GRID Alternatives staff to install 17 solar panels for a local low-income family in Yuba City, CA. “A big part of our effort here reflects the commitment we have to our community,” said Paul Moreno, a PG&E spokesperson. “We’re supportive of renewable energy.”
This year our SolarCorps Fellows honored Cesar Chavez's legacy as an educator, environmentalist, and civil rights leader through a service day on March 31st.
Every day at GRID Alternatives we work to provide hands-on training for those interested in working in the solar energy field. The commitment to teaching is not only for our volunteers, but also for our SolarCorps Fellows, individuals who spend a year in service with GRID Alternatives in exchange for learning opportunities that will help jump-start their careers.
Due to the continued impacts and uncertainty of COVID-19, Solar Spring Break is postponed until further notice. Read below for how students can stay involved and keep learning!
Martin Luther King Jr. Day of National Service was recognized across the U.S. as people rolled up their sleeves and took part in projects to better their community. For GRID Alternatives AmeriCorps members, this was a day to celebrate their year-long service to GRID Alternatives.
Last week 23 GRID Alternatives SolarCorps members made their way to the Solar Living Institute for a week-long solar PV course. When I arrived on Sunday, I found that I would be staying in a small hut with 3 beds.
