We recently reached a huge milestone by installing our 10,000th solar electric system in Rancho Cordova! To celebrate this huge accomplishment, supporters, dignitaries such as Mayor Linda Burge, other solar industry professionals, and media outlets joined our team along with GRID CEO Erica Mackie for a gathering at recipient Brita West's home. Over the course of setting up this installation we encountered a few barriers, but with the help of Rebuilding Together to assist Brita with a new roof, we were finally able to move  forward.

In mid-June, 10 trainees climbed onto a roof to install solar for the first time. It marked a special day for GRID in Illinois: the culmination of an eight-week training, combining Lutheran Services of Southern Illinois’ (LSSI) Employment Skills School and a GRID Alternatives solar installation bootcamp, aimed at helping individuals who were formerly incarcerated start careers in the renewable energy field.

The Solar Soiree is GRID Alternatives' annual fundraising event. Supporters come together to enjoy dynamic performance, live music, art, auction items, beer & wine tasting, local fare, and speakers on GRID's impact on the iives of homeowners, volunteers, trainees, educators, donors, local government and more in the North State to celebrate the unique contributions of our triple bottom line work for people, planet, and employment.

Join us for the next Solar Soiree!
