Job Training

We reached another huge milestone in the North Valley! This month we celebrated our 100th solar installation for underserved families in Stockton and provided our first electric vehicle charger to the Ahmed family on their single-story home. Through our Energy for All program and Clean Mobility initiative, GRID makes solar power and job training accessible to low-income communities.

This summer GRID Alternatives Central Coast partnered with California State University Monterey Bay to offer a six-week immersive solar class as part of the university's Upward Bound program.

The student cohort met on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in June and July and included ten high school students from across Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties. The program leveraged GRID Alternatives' hands-on solar installation model to educate and inspire the next generation of solar leaders.

This July, GRID Bay Area’s Troops to Solar training partnership with local veterans services organization, Swords to Plowshares, completed a second successful training after wrapping up its pilot cohort earlier this year in the spring. The partnership aims to reduce the barriers to employment for local veterans interested in the rapidly growing solar industry through pre-employment job readiness training, hands-on training, and employment opportunities.
