May 30, 2013 – Denver, Colo. – GRID Alternatives Colorado formally kicked off its Solar Affordable Housing Program today by installing a solar electric system at no cost for a low-income family in Denver’s Elyria Swansea neighborhood. The program, getting underway this summer, will bring clean, affordable solar power to low-income homeowners in the state while providing volunteers and job trainees with hands-on installation experience.

On March 26th 2013, GRID Alternatives Inland Empire (GRID IE) will be in the City of Redlands and Loma Linda to solarize the homes of Alejandra Pennington and Dewi Maria Sagala, with the help of the Southern California Engineering Technology Association of California State Polytechnic University in Pomona, for GRID IE’s Inaugural Alternative Spring Break Project.
In February, GRID Alternatives Greater Los Angeles completed its eighth and final solar installation project supported by a grant from the William C. Bannerman Foundation. This grant helped support the installation of 26kW of clean solar power for Los Angeles area low-income homeowners, providing over $240,000 worth of affordable energy for the families who need it the most.
